So yesterday I was driving home from work. Feeling very sad over my friend's death. I was in my own world, wondering, feeling sad and feeling mad and angry at him. Then I realized I was behind a car adorned with 3 L/Cpl Chris Cosgrove stickers. The car pulled into an office building and I followed. I parked. I got out and tapped on her window. I told her who I was and that I served with Chris Cosgrove many years ago. She was his Aunt. I told her how much we loved him and what a great ...  Marine he is....that we were all proud to have served with him and remember him fondly. She was very appreciative, and a bit taken aback. But she was kind and had a warm, sincere, grateful smile. I guess that's what it's about, right? Remembering the good in all of us and reminding people that their loved ones are never forgotten. Remembering the best of them.
Chris was an angel to me yesterday. He showed up when I needed to be reminded of that. Semper Fi Marines. Love you |

Christopher, You out did yourself this "Fallen Soldier Night"! I will never be able to replicate it. I want you to know that every year Kevin and Brian look forward to this night more than any other and have since you died. Their bond with you grows stronger, not weaker, since you left us 11 years ago. As they get older, they realize more and more what they lost. Kevin has tried to fill the gaps for you with Brian, but nothing can replace you for Kevin. They will stand proud, ... honoring you on January 13th, as will we. Just know, you are still with each of us every single day. We love you and miss you more with every passing day! The Love NEVER dies!

Dear Cosgrove family, I live in Ohio, and I somehow came to possess a blue t-shirt for the September, 2012 Hanover 5K Run for Heroes. On the back of the shirt, "Marines Care - in memory of L/Cpl Christopher Cosgrove II"I is listed as a sponsor of the Run for Heroes. I wear this shirt, and only this shirt, whenever I attend my boxing class. I was once very overweight and in poor health, and the exercise has enabled me to become healthy and fit, and to set a good example for my children. The ... classes are very intense and challenging, and whenever I start to feel like giving up or quitting or slowing down, I remember that Chris' name is on the back of that shirt, and that I owe not only to myself, but to him, to keep going and to finish my mission, which is to remain fit and healthy so that I can live a long life with my family, enjoying the freedoms that brave people like Chris have provided for me. Everyone at our club knows me by sight because of that shirt. I refuse to wear anything else. Some may see it as just a ratty old T-shirt, but it is much more than that to me. I am so sorry to all of you for the loss of Chris. I wish I could have met him and shook his hand. Please know that he and his legacy have managed to touch someone hundreds of miles away from home, and that he's made a difference in my life, and in the lives of my wife and children. It is my honor to wear his name on this shirt.
